School Director

Aaron Butler - Director Hi, my name is Aaron Butler. I am the Director at Mt. Auburn International Academy (MAIA). The Director is ultimately responsible and accountable for the proper, efficient and successful operation of the school in all areas, with particular emphasis on: academic achievements, enrollment, operational and financial efficiency, and external relations and compliance.

The Director inspires staff and teachers to excel in their jobs and motivates students to achieve their highest potential.

The Director achieves success with the support of the SABIS® organization, requesting support as needed, and ensuring a good working relationship between SABIS® and the school.

The Director makes sure the SABIS® philosophy, systems, policies and procedures are properly implemented and adhered to.

Lower School Academic Department

Susan Kien - Lower School Academic Department Hi, my name is Susan Kien. I am the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) for kindergarten through fifth grade. The largest responsibility for an Academic Quality Controller is the accountability for the academic success of our students. I also inspire my teachers to excel in their jobs and motivate our students to achieve their highest potential. In addition, I provide instructional and administrative leadership to my teachers, oversee implementation of the K-5 curriculum, coordinate exams and monitor student academic performance. I work closely with the Director, the school administrative team, and SABIS® to ensure student success. I provide contact with parents on academic issues and students with academic as well as emotional, personal and tuff love issues. Finally, I see to it that the SABIS® philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and adhered to.

Upper School Academic Department

Emily Marks - Upper School Academic Quality Controller Hi, my name is Emily Marks. I am the Upper School Academic Quality Controller (AQC) for Mount Auburn International Academy. I oversee (6th-11th) grade students on a daily basis. My overall job is to insure the academic success of each of these students. I hold regular grade level meetings with my staff to go over concepts the students maybe falling behind with, we come up with valuable and creative solutions to correct the problem, encourage our teachers to pursue for excellence by using the pacing charts and other SABIS® materials. Along with meeting with my teachers on a regular basis to make sure the SABIS® curriculum and point system is being implemented appropriately, I also oversee the 6th-11th grade exam hall, where our students are tested four days out of the week. I also monitor their academic performances by calling parents for behavioral or academic related issues. I work closely with the Director of the school and the other administrative team members to make sure that our students are getting the best possible care a school can provide.
